Vlady Voz Tokk (Mike Berlant b. 1979 Moscow; MFA Syracuse '11) Mág Ne Tá (Amy Mathis b.1988 USA; MFA Pratt '13). Wild Torus stages live happenings of experimental sound and performance art within immersive video/sculptural installations. We use both shocking and subtle tactics to challenge and re-interpret pervasive cultural standards. Our creations are mystical and spectacular, often with references to ancient aliens, cult theologies, and our own personal lives. The happenings allow artists and audience members to engender alternate realities and collectively deconstruct the Internet-driven, consumerist society we live in today. We call ourselves Digital Shamans, as we believe that we are medicine people for the digital age. WT has been performing and organizing events non-stop since late 2012 in multiple venues around NYC, and has toured extensively throughout the US, Canada, Mexico, South America China and Europe. Wild Torus collaborates with other artists who share our vision in creating a site-specific, liminal time-space. Specifically, we are interested in the intersection of performance art with noise art and video installation. We are devoted to the avant-garde and genre-defying aspects of expanded performance. In uniting different practitioners, we present a multi-faceted experience.
